WILDERNESS GUIDES & INSTRUCTORS

Our Wilderness Guides and Instructors are certified under the standards of the Professional Association of Wilderness Guides and Instructors (PAWGI). Each guide must undergo a highly competitive recruitment process, and must demonstrate physical standards as high as those required to graduate from U.S. Navy SEAL Training. Each guide must also spend a minimum of 2 years as an Assistant Guide, before he/she is allowed to lead expeditions and activities on his/her own. All personnel is also trained in First Aid/CPR/AED.

Our Scuba Diving Instructors are certified by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), CMAS (Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques, or UDI (United Diving Instructors), and have a minimum of 1,000 dives.

Our Siberian Huskies are an integral part of AMARUK ®. Ashlu is the alpha male (shown on our front page) and he is happily mated to Sitka. They were both born in Ontario. They are very well travelled sled dogs who are familiar with many areas of Western Canada from the sands of Tofino, British Columbia to the delta of the McKenzie River, Northwest Territories, and even Canada's polar regions. They enjoy the outdoors very much as well as the comfort of a cozy outpost.

AMARUK ® staff are members of various organizations, including PAWGI (Professional Association of Wilderness Guides and Instructors), Emergency First Response, PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), CMAS (Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques, UDI (United Diving Instructors), COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association), ACSM (American College of Sport Medicine Fitness Professional Alliance), The Wildlife Society, the Canadian Society of Environmental Biologists, the American Fisheries Society, as well as the North American Nature Photography Association.
